Our story

How it all began

Adventure For All, a non-profit in the USA, helped Kelvin and Sarah teach their son Joshie to ride a bike. Then Kelvin and Sarah started Adventure Bound, so they could put on a bike camp for other families. Now we help more adventurers in the UK learn to ride.

How we got here

  1. September 2023

    Hearing about Adventure For All

Kelvin and Sarah heard Chase from Adventure For All on a gravel cycling podcast. They asked AFA to help their son Joshie learn to ride a two-wheel bike. Weekly video calls and coaching followed.

    Joshie rides

After a winter of weekly practice, Joshie rode on his own. Then he did his first adventure ride, in the Forest of Dean.

    Adventure Bound begins

Adventure Bound became a Community Interest Company, working with Adventure For All. Five of Joshie's friends came to the first Intro2Bike camp at National Star College, Cheltenham.

    Weekly sessions

The first adventurers started weekly sessions, to build on what they learned at camp.

The forest and a second camp

Our second bike camp, and six more adventurers joined. On a rest day during camp, adventurers from our first camp rode the Forest of Dean. It was our first forest ride as a club.

    Our first race day

With Cheltenham Town Wheelers, we hosted a grass crit at Pittville Park. More race days are to come.

The words we use

We say “exceptionalities”. It puts the focus on what our adventurers can do.
