For parents and carers

We're parents too.

Kelvin and Sarah's son Joshie learned to ride a bike with coaching from Adventure For All. Then he rode in the Forest of Dean. After that, Kelvin and Sarah started Adventure Bound, so they could put on a bike camp for other families.

We focus on what every adventurer can do, and we help them do more. Everyone learns at their own pace, in a safe, friendly group of people who get it.

  • We get to know your child: what they can do and what they're like.
  • We go at their pace, in small steps, with lots of practice.
  • You'll be part of a friendly group of families who understand.

How we keep everyone safe

Adventure should be exciting, not scary. Here's how we look after everyone.

  • Qualified coaches

Our coaches are trained by Adventure For All and qualified with British Cycling.

  • Checked and trained

All coaches are DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.

  • First aid

A trained first aider is at every session.

  • Parents join in

Parents and carers stay and help. And we are insured.

What we ask of you

  • Start at home with Aurora and follow its programme with your adventurer.
  • Come to Bike Club and join in. You can keep teaching your adventurer if you like, with support from our coaches and volunteers, or help in another way.
  • Bring a bike and a helmet.
  • Tell us about your adventurer before you come to Bike Club, so we can plan the right next steps.

Good to know

Questions

What if my child is nervous?

That's normal. Lots of adventurers feel nervous at first. We go in small steps, cheer them on and never push anyone past what they're ready for.

Who can come?

Adventure Bound is only for people with exceptionalities, children and adults, of any age. So far our adventurers have been aged from 10 to their late twenties. To find out how to join, see Start here.

How long does it take to learn to ride?

Everyone learns at their own pace, so there's no set time. We support every adventurer, every step of the way, with patience and encouragement, never pressure. Many keep learning at Bike Club. Every adventurer who keeps working on their skills will improve.

Do I have to coach my adventurer?

No, you don't have to. At Bike Club, our coaches are there to help your adventurer. You can choose to help in another way, as a volunteer. Lots of parents do.
