A new way to join

From February 2027, we're trialling a new way for new adventurers to join us. It uses Aurora, a new platform that Adventure For All is developing.

We can only fit a few families at a camp. This way, we can support even more people to learn to ride a bike. It's an amazing life skill.

Three steps

  1. Begin with Aurora

Aurora (opens in a new tab) is a new online platform for parents that Adventure For All is developing. The first pilot programme begins in February 2027. Families will be able to guide their adventurer through a thorough, step-by-step course, with videos and materials to go with it.

  2. Build the skills for the park

The course takes you through the first skills, like getting into the start position. Then your adventurer practises on a bike trainer, using their own bike: pushing off, pedalling and braking. Once they have these skills, we can help with the riding.

  3. Join our Bike Club

At Bike Club, on Sunday mornings, adventurers take their bike onto the grass. Because they've practised on their own bike, it all feels familiar. Our coaches and volunteers help, and you can carry on teaching your adventurer if you like.

At your own pace

Everyone learns at their own pace. There's no deadline for the start position, or for riding.

We support every adventurer, every step of the way, with patience and encouragement, never pressure. Every adventurer who keeps working on their skills will improve.

Already riding?

If your adventurer has an exceptionality, can already ride and wants somewhere to practise, get in touch. We start with a short assessment.

Questions

What is Aurora?

Aurora (opens in a new tab) is a new online platform for parents that Adventure For All is developing. You follow a detailed programme. It shows you, step by step, how your adventurer learns to ride a bike.

When does Aurora start?

We start trialling Aurora in February 2027.

What is the start position?

It is one of the first skills in Aurora. Next, your adventurer practises on a bike trainer. Once they have these skills, we can help with the riding at Bike Club.

What equipment do we need?

Start with a bike that is the right size. A friendly bike shop can help you find the right size for your adventurer. When they sit on the saddle, the soles of their feet should be on the ground, not just their tiptoes. Many people think a smaller bike is safer, but it isn't. A bike that is the right size is the safest. For the bike trainer, the Aurora course guides you. It recommends a Wahoo KICKR ROLLR, a trainer that holds your adventurer's own bike still. It's very useful. Normal rollers (with a parent holding the front wheel), an indoor trainer or an exercise bike can work too. We have three Wahoo trainers at Bike Club, and you're welcome to use them on Sunday mornings.

What is a Wahoo, or an indoor trainer?

It's a static bike trainer. It holds your adventurer's own bike still, so they can practise bike skills indoors, like pushing off, pedalling and braking, and later changing gears and standing up. Because they use their own bike, it all feels familiar when they move to the grass.

Do we have to use Aurora?

Yes. Aurora is how families join us now. If your adventurer has an exceptionality and can already ride, get in touch. We start with a short assessment.

Can we still come to a Bike Camp?

Not at the moment. Bike camps may come back in the future.
