Bike Club

Build skills, together.

Bike Club is our weekly group session, on Sunday mornings.

Our coaches and volunteers help every adventurer here. Parents can keep teaching their adventurer if they like. Everyone learns at their own pace.

Three courses

We follow Adventure For All's Adventure Biking programme (opens in a new tab). Adventurers carry on through its three courses: INTRO, LVL UP and BLAST. Each course ends with a milestone. Anyone can repeat a course.

Every session has the same parts. We get ready in mind and body, learn a new skill, then practise it lots.

  1. Beginner

    INTRO

Balance, control and braking. Getting mind, body and bike to work together.

Milestone: Ride a two-wheel bike on your own for 10 to 20 metres, 4 times out of 5.

  2. Intermediate

    LVL UP

Turning, braking with control, riding around cones and building stamina.

Milestone: Turn and weave through cones, stop with both brakes, stand and pedal for 10 to 20 metres and ride for 5 minutes without stopping.

  3. Advanced

    BLAST

Trail riding. Off-road, on changing ground, controlling speed and riding as a group.

Milestone: Ride trails safely at a steady speed, with good trail manners, talking to the group as you go.

Skills and badges

Each course has its own skills to learn, and a badge for each one. Every skill is broken into small steps. Nobody is rushed, and everyone gets cheered.

Feel how your body moves and learn to control it.

  • Body to bike

Learn how you and your bike move together.

  • Balance

    Glide with both feet up.

  • Steer and brake

Go where you choose and stop where you choose.

  • Ride on your own

Practise with help, then pedal off, nobody holding on.

LVL UP Intermediate

  • Think and react

Spot what's coming and react in time.

  • Turn and weave

Turn left and right and zig-zag through cones.

  • Both brakes

Use both brakes to stop between the cones.

  • Stand and pedal

Up out of the saddle for 10 to 20 metres.

  • Keep going

Ride for 5 minutes without stopping.

BLAST Advanced

  • Off-road

Leave the path and ride on trails.

  • Changing ground

Adjust as the ground changes under your wheels.

  • Speed control

    Keep a safe, steady speed.

  • Group ride

Ride with others and stay in touch on the trail.

  • Trail manners

Be kind on the trail. Talk or signal to your group.

Who can come

Bike Club is only for adventurers with exceptionalities.

  • New families start at home with Aurora (opens in a new tab). You're always welcome to come along. Once your adventurer reaches the start position, we can help with the riding. We have three Wahoo bike trainers here, so they can practise pushing off, pedalling and braking on their own bike before trying it on the grass. How to start →
  • Adventurers already with us, from our past camps, carry on.

If your adventurer has an exceptionality, can already ride and wants somewhere to practise, get in touch. We start with a short assessment.

At your own pace

Everyone learns at their own pace. We support every adventurer, every step of the way, with patience and encouragement, never pressure.

Every adventurer who keeps working on their skills will improve.

Run by our community

Kelvin and Sarah run Bike Club, with help from the parents. Parents help in lots of ways. They learn alongside their adventurer, so they can ride together outside the sessions too.

Want to know what a session is like? Come along and watch one.

We play music every week, with everyone's favourite songs. It has great vibes.

Questions

Do parents stay?

Yes. Parents and carers stay and join in. You can keep teaching your adventurer if you like, with support from our coaches and volunteers, or help in another way. There's a friendly group of parents too.

How do we join?

Start at home with Aurora (opens in a new tab), a new online platform for parents that Adventure For All is developing. We start trialling it in February 2027. When your adventurer is ready to take their bike out to the park, come to Bike Club. We'll be there to support you. See Start here. If your adventurer has an exceptionality and can already ride, get in touch.

Can we come and watch first?

Yes, please do. Get in touch first, then come along on a Sunday morning and see what it's like.
